💉Essential Vaccines & Clinical Functions

VAXIRAB
VAXIRAB N INJECTION contains ‘immunoglobulins’, i.e. antibodies that act against rabies disease. It helps to prevent rabies disease post-exposure by neutralizing the rabies virus. It is usually not required in people who have been vaccinated against rabies disease.

CHIRORAB
Chirorab Vaccine contains ‘Rabies Vaccine, Human’, which provides long-lasting protection against infection from the rabies virus. Chirorab Vaccine 1 ml helps develop immunity by forming antibodies that protect against infection caused by rabies viruses. It is essential to complete the vaccine course to prevent this fatal disease.

ABHAYRAB
Stops the rabies virus from infecting the central nervous system. These are “active” vaccines that teach your body to fight the virus. Abhayrab-PF Vaccine 2 ml is primarily administered to prevent rabies in individuals at risk of exposure, such as animal handlers and healthcare workers.

ABHAYTOX - CPR
Abhay-TOX is a tetanus toxoid vaccine used to induce active immunity against Clostridium tetani, the bacteria responsible for tetanus. It contains an inactivated toxin (toxoid) that stimulates the body’s immune system to produce protective antibodies without causing the disease.

ANTITET w/ CPR
AntiTet is an emergency shot that provides instant protection against tetanus toxins right after an injury. Unlike regular vaccines that take time to work, it delivers ready-made antibodies to neutralize poison immediately.

TETAGAM
Tetanus immune globulin works by giving your body the antibodies it needs to protect it against tetanus infection. This is called passive protection. This passive protection lasts long enough to protect your body until your body can produce its own antibodies against tetanus.

TOXOID (BETT)
The fundamental purpose of the Tetanus Toxoid vaccine is active immunization. It does not kill the Clostridium tetani bacteria directly; instead, it trains the immune system to neutralize the tetanospasmin neurotoxin. This toxin is responsible for the severe muscle spasms and “lockjaw” associated with tetanus.

CHIRORAB - CPR
ChiroRab is a high-potency vaccine that prevents the Rabies virus from reaching the central nervous system.

ABHAYRAB - CPR
Abhayrab is a Purified Vero Cell Rabies Vaccine (PVRV) used to prevent the fatal rabies virus from infecting the central nervous system. It works by introducing an inactivated (killed) virus into the body, which stimulates the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies. Whether administered as a precaution for high-risk individuals or as an urgent treatment after an animal bite, it provides a highly effective immunological barrier that stops the virus before it can cause disease.

ATS (Antitetanus Serum)
Unlike the tetanus vaccine (toxoid), which provides long-term active immunity, ATS provides immediate passive immunity. It contains pre-formed antibodies that directly neutralize the tetanus toxin already present in the body. It is primarily used as an emergency treatment for patients with high-risk, contaminated wounds who have an uncertain vaccination history, providing an instant “antibody shield” while the body works to develop its own defenses.

TETAGAM PFS
Tetagam PFS is a Human Tetanus Immunoglobulin (HTIG) that provides immediate, passive immunity against tetanus. Unlike the standard vaccine (which takes weeks to work), this “ready-made” antibody injection starts neutralizing the tetanus toxin the moment it enters the bloodstream. It is clinically used for the urgent management of tetanus-prone wounds in individuals who are not fully vaccinated, or as a critical part of the treatment for an active tetanus infection.

ERIG
ERIG provides immediate, passive immunity to neutralize the rabies virus at the site of an animal bite. Unlike the rabies vaccine, which takes several days to stimulate the body’s own defense, ERIG contains “ready-made” antibodies that act instantly. It is typically infiltrated directly into and around the wound to stop the virus from entering the nerve endings and traveling to the brain.

ERIG - CPR
ERIG provides immediate, passive immunity by delivering “ready-made” antibodies directly to the site of an animal bite. While the rabies vaccine (active immunity) takes about 7 to 10 days to start working, ERIG acts instantly to neutralize the rabies virus before it can enter the nerve endings. In clinical practice, it is infiltrated around the wound to provide a critical safety window during the first few days of post-exposure treatment.

ERIG VINRAB
Vinrab is a highly purified Equine Rabies Immunoglobulin (ERIG) designed to provide immediate, passive immunity following a high-risk animal bite (Category III exposure). While a rabies vaccine takes time to stimulate the body’s own defenses, Vinrab acts instantly by delivering ready-made antibodies that neutralize the rabies virus at the wound site. It is clinically infiltrated into and around the bite to “mop up” the virus before it can attach to the nerves and travel to the brain.

ERIG VINRAB (DOH)
Vinrab is a highly purified Equine Rabies Immunoglobulin (ERIG) utilized by the Department of Health (DOH) for the immediate prevention of rabies in Category III exposures (severe bites or scratches). It provides instant passive immunity by delivering “ready-made” antibodies directly to the site of the wound. While the rabies vaccine takes about a week to trigger the body’s own defenses, Vinrab acts as an immediate shield, neutralizing the virus locally before it can latch onto the nerves and travel to the brain.

HEPA B (ELOVAC)
Elovac is a recombinant DNA vaccine that provides active immunity against the Hepatitis B virus (HBV).

HEPA B (BEVAC SINGLE DOSE)
Bevac is a recombinant DNA vaccine used for active immunization against the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It contains a purified surface antigen (HBsAg) that trains the immune system to produce long-lasting antibodies. These antibodies protect the liver from infection and prevent the long-term complications of chronic Hepatitis B, such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. The single-dose format is clinically used as part of a primary series for infants, a booster for adults, or as urgent protection for individuals recently exposed to the virus.

HEPA B (BEVAC MULTI DOSE)
Bevac is a recombinant DNA vaccine used for the active immunization of children and adults against the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It contains a purified surface antigen (HBsAg) that stimulates the immune system to produce long-lasting antibodies. These antibodies protect the liver from infection and significantly reduce the long-term risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. The multi-dose vial format is clinically designed for high-volume settings, such as clinics or mass immunization programs, to efficiently provide the full primary series required for lifelong protection.

HEPA B (HEPLIV)
Hepliv is a recombinant DNA vaccine used for active immunization against the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It contains purified surface antigens (HBsAg) that train the immune system to recognize and neutralize the virus. By stimulating the production of specific antibodies, Hepliv provides long-term protection against liver infection, chronic hepatitis, and the subsequent risk of liver cirrhosis or liver cancer (Hepatocellular Carcinoma).

FLU (VAXIFLU)
Vaxiflu is an inactivated (killed) virus vaccine that provides active immunity against the seasonal flu. It contains purified antigens from the four most common strains of the influenza virus circulating each year (Quadrivalent). By training the immune system to produce antibodies against these specific strains, it significantly reduces the risk of severe respiratory infection, pneumonia, and hospitalization. Because flu viruses mutate frequently, it is clinically designed as an annual vaccination to maintain high-level protection.

FLU (VAXIGRIP TETRA)
Vaxigrip Tetra is a quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine that provides active immunity against four different strains of the flu virus (two Type A and two Type B strains). It works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies that recognize the specific surface proteins of these viruses. Because flu strains mutate annually, this vaccine is updated every season to prevent severe respiratory complications, pneumonia, and hospitalizations in both children and adults.

FLU (INFLUVAC)
Influvac is a surface antigen inactivated influenza vaccine that provides active immunity against the seasonal flu. Unlike whole-virus vaccines, it contains only the purified outer parts (surface antigens) of the virus, making it highly effective while maintaining an excellent safety profile. It stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies that neutralize the specific flu strains predicted for the current season, preventing severe respiratory illness, secondary infections like pneumonia, and hospitalization.

HEPA A (HAVRIX)
Havrix is an inactivated (killed) virus vaccine that provides long-term active immunity against the Hepatitis A virus (HAV). It works by introducing a non-infectious form of the virus to the immune system, triggering the production of specific antibodies that prevent the virus from infecting the liver. It is highly effective in preventing illness caused by contaminated food and water, and a full two-dose series is clinically proven to provide protection for 20 years or more.

HEPA A (MEVAC)
Mevac is a live-attenuated vaccine used for active immunization against the Hepatitis A virus (HAV). Unlike inactivated vaccines, it contains a weakened version of the virus that mimics a natural infection without causing disease, triggering a robust and long-lasting immune response. It stimulates the production of specific antibodies that protect the liver from infection, effectively preventing illness caused by contaminated food, water, or person-to-person contact.

HEPA A & B (TWINRIX)
Twinrix is a combined vaccine that provides active immunity against both the Hepatitis A (HAV) and Hepatitis B (HBV) viruses simultaneously. It contains inactivated Hepatitis A virus and purified recombinant Hepatitis B surface antigens. By stimulating the immune system to produce specific antibodies for both diseases, it offers a convenient and efficient way to protect the liver from infections caused by contaminated food/water (Hep A) as well as blood-borne or sexual transmission (Hep B).

VARICELLA (VARIVAX)
Varivax is a live-attenuated virus vaccine that provides active immunity against the Varicella-zoster virus (VZV), the cause of chickenpox. It contains a weakened form of the virus that stimulates the immune system to produce specific antibodies without causing the full disease. This vaccine is highly effective at preventing the itchy, blistering rash and potential complications like skin infections, pneumonia, and encephalitis. In most cases, even if a vaccinated person catches the virus, the symptoms are significantly milder.

VARICELLA (VARILRIX)
Varilrix is a live-attenuated virus vaccine used for active immunization against the Varicella-zoster virus (VZV), commonly known as chickenpox. It contains a weakened strain of the virus (Oka strain) that triggers the immune system to build a defense without causing the actual disease. It is highly effective in preventing the classic blistering rash and reduces the risk of severe complications such as secondary bacterial skin infections, pneumonia, and brain inflammation (encephalitis).

GARDASIL 4
Gardasil 4 is a quadrivalent recombinant vaccine that provides active immunity against four types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV): Types 6, 11, 16, and 18. It works by introducing non-infectious “virus-like particles” (VLPs) that train the immune system to produce antibodies.

GARDASIL 9
Gardasil 9 is the most comprehensive recombinant vaccine available for the prevention of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). It provides active immunity against 9 types of the virus (Types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58). By using non-infectious “virus-like particles,” it triggers the immune system to produce antibodies that block the virus from entering cells.

TYPHOID (TYPHIM)
Typhim Vi is a purified Vi capsular polysaccharide vaccine that provides active immunity against Typhoid Fever, a severe systemic infection caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. It works by introducing a specific part of the bacteria’s outer coating (the Vi polysaccharide) to the immune system. This stimulates the production of protective antibodies that recognize and neutralize the bacteria before they can cause a full-blown infection. It is a critical preventive measure for individuals traveling to or living in areas with poor sanitation and limited access to clean drinking water.

JAP B (IMOJEV)
Imojev is a live-attenuated recombinant vaccine that provides active immunity against the Japanese Encephalitis (JE) virus. It is a chimeric vaccine, meaning it uses the backbone of the yellow fever vaccine virus to deliver the protective antigens of the JE virus. This advanced technology triggers a rapid and long-lasting immune response, producing antibodies that neutralize the virus before it can infect the central nervous system. It is highly effective in preventing JE, a serious mosquito-borne viral infection that can lead to severe brain inflammation (encephalitis), permanent neurological damage, or death.

MENINGO (MENQUADFI)
MenQuadfi is a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine that provides active immunity against four groups of the Neisseria meningitidis bacteria: A, C, W, and Y. It works by chemically linking (conjugating) the bacteria’s outer sugar coating (polysaccharides) to a carrier protein, which helps the immune system—especially in younger patients—recognize and “remember” the bacteria more effectively. This vaccine is critical for preventing Meningococcal Disease, a rapid and life-threatening infection that can cause meningitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord) and severe blood infections (sepsis).

TDAP (ADACEL)
Adacel is a 3-in-1 booster vaccine that provides active immunity against three serious bacterial diseases: Tetanus (lockjaw), Diphtheria, and Pertussis (whooping cough). It is a “reduced antigen” (lower case ‘d’ and ‘p’) formulation specifically designed for adolescents and adults. It works by introducing inactivated toxins (toxoids) and purified components of the bacteria to the immune system, stimulating the production of antibodies that neutralize the toxins and the bacteria themselves. It is a critical preventive measure to maintain immunity levels that naturally fade over time and to prevent the spread of whooping cough to vulnerable infants.

ROTATEQ
RotaTeq is a live-attenuated, pentavalent (5-strain) oral vaccine that provides active immunity against Rotavirus, the most common cause of severe diarrhea and dehydration in infants and young children worldwide. It contains five different “reassortant” strains of the virus that have been weakened so they cannot cause illness but still trigger a robust immune response in the digestive tract. By stimulating the production of local antibodies (IgA) in the gut, it prevents severe rotavirus gastroenteritis and significantly reduces the need for hospitalization due to fluid loss.

HEPA BSV
The Hepatitis B vaccine (often branded as Hepa-Bv or similar) is a recombinant DNA vaccine that provides active immunity against the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It does not contain the actual virus; instead, it uses a small, non-infectious portion of the virus’s outer coating (the Hepatitis B surface antigen or HBsAg). When injected, it trains the immune system to recognize this protein and produce antibodies. This prevents the virus from causing a chronic liver infection, which can lead to severe complications such as cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) and hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer).

MMR
The MMR vaccine is a live-attenuated combination vaccine that provides active immunity against three highly contagious viral diseases: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. It contains weakened forms of the viruses that are strong enough to trigger an immune response but too weak to cause the actual diseases in healthy individuals.

MMRV
MMRV is a 4-in-1 live-attenuated combination vaccine that provides active immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (Chickenpox). It combines the components of the standard MMR vaccine with the Varicella vaccine into a single injection.

POLIO OPV
OPV is a live-attenuated oral vaccine that provides active immunity against Poliomyelitis (Polio). Unlike the injectable version (IPV), OPV contains weakened strains of the poliovirus that are administered as drops by mouth. It works by mimicking a natural infection in the digestive tract, stimulating the production of local antibodies (mucosal immunity) in the intestines. This not only protects the individual from paralytic polio but also prevents them from shedding the virus in their stool, effectively stopping the transmission of the virus within a community.

POLIO IPV
IPV is an inactivated (killed) virus vaccine used to provide active immunity against Poliomyelitis (Polio). Unlike the oral version (OPV), it is administered by injection and contains “killed” strains of all three types of poliovirus. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce high levels of antibodies in the bloodstream. These antibodies are highly effective at preventing the virus from spreading to the central nervous system, thereby protecting the individual against paralytic polio.

PNEUMOCON 13
Prevenar 13 (PCV13) is a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine that provides active immunity against 13 strains of the Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. It works by chemically linking (conjugating) the sugars from the bacteria’s outer shell to a carrier protein. This specific design allows the immune system—even in infants and seniors—to recognize and build a strong “memory” against the bacteria.

PNEUMOPS23
Pneumovax 23 (PPSV23) is a 23-valent inactivated vaccine that provides active immunity against 23 different types of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. Unlike conjugate vaccines (like PCV13), this vaccine uses pure capsular polysaccharides—essentially the “sugar coats” of the bacteria—to stimulate the immune system.

PENTAVAC
Pentavac is a combined inactivated vaccine that provides active immunity against five major childhood diseases in a single injection. It is a “5-in-1” formulation that simplifies the vaccination schedule for infants.

PENTAXIM
Pentaxim is a 5-in-1 combination vaccine that provides active immunity against five serious childhood diseases in a single injection. It is an “acellular” (DaPT) formulation, which is generally associated with fewer side effects (like fever or redness) than older “whole-cell” vaccines.

PPD
PPD is not a vaccine; it is a diagnostic antigen used in the Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) to determine if an individual has been infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes Tuberculosis (TB). It consists of a purified protein extract from the bacteria. When a small amount is injected just under the surface of the skin (intradermally), it triggers a delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction (Type IV) in individuals whose immune systems have been previously “primed” by the bacteria.

BOOSTRIX
Boostrix is a 3-in-1 combination booster vaccine that provides active immunity against Tetanus (lockjaw), Diphtheria, and Pertussis (whooping cough). It is an “acellular” (reduced antigen) formulation specifically designed for adolescents and adults. It works by introducing inactivated toxins (toxoids) and purified components of the bacteria to the immune system. This triggers the production of antibodies that neutralize the toxins and the bacteria themselves. It is a vital preventive measure to maintain immunity levels that naturally decline over time and to prevent the transmission of whooping cough to infants.
